Welcome to my blog! I'm excited about launching this outlet for the tempest of archaeological nonsense I constantly find myself obsessing over. When I was a kid, I was given a book on the history and excavation of the site at Hisarlik (now widely considered to be the ancient location of Homeric Troy). That book got me started down a path of historical and archaeological fascination - one that I still find myself trekking on many years later. Whenever I read about history, travel to somewhere I've never been, or work on a new project, I am constantly drawn to the many rabbit-holes of historical investigation that inevitably lead me to unfamiliar worlds in the past.
This blog is my personal record of those experiences down the rabbit-hole. A lot of what I find when researching new things will never make it into published material. Frequently, I tell my colleagues, "this would make a great thesis," or, "there's SO MUCH potential for this site!" As an ardent data socialist, I am keen to share whatever I find in the hope that if I don't write something about it, someone else might take it up and run with it. Therefore, the blog will reflect my current and past research or adventures throughout my undergraduate, graduate, and now professional years.
I'll try to update as much as possible, but I just hope that if you're reading this far, you're keen to hear more about my work in archaeology! Maybe you get inspired to do some work yourself, or maybe you're already doing it and want to read about my research and/or want to work together...any way you slice it I thank you for checking out my website.
Cheers,
Jeremy
